Rise of the NFL & NBA

Due to the fall in revenue within the MLB over the past 5 years and rise in revenue for both the National Football League (NFL) and National Basketball Association (NBA), Roger Goodell (Commissioner of NFL) and Adam Silver (Commissioner of NBA) have decided to work together on a hostile takeover of the NBA.

After the 2013 season, both Goodell and Silver met with a majority of the MLB owners. It was at this time, that the decision was made to bring 16 MLB teams under the umbrella of the NFL and NBA and create the National Baseball League (NBL). These teams would alter their names to match an existing NFL and NBA team. The 30 owners will then take part in a revenue sharing system which they will obtain a % of revenue brought in from the NBL.

As many wondered, what would happen to the players of the remaining 16 teams? Well it is simple, all players will be removed from their existing MLB team and put into the free agent pool. Prior to the beginning of the 2014 season, an Inaugural Draft will be held for the 16 new teams.

The length of player contracts will be modified to be included on 1-2 year deals in which the team that drafts them can negotiate during the season to extend that player.
