The fans of the Cleveland Blues are getting used to seeing their team slowly fade away during the season and they are experiencing this situation again. The team managed only 3 wins during July and 6 losses. This left them bottom of the AL table a full 9 games behind the leaders.
The batting saw only 53 runs during July which didn't help the win count. The best of the batting came from First Baseman Al Reach. Reach took 27 at bats in 9 game starts as he earned an average of .370. This included 10 hits, 4 runs and 6 RBI's.
The pitching was came from behind the arm of Cy Bentley again this month with an ERA of 2.62 for the month. He did this from 8 game starts and 58.1 innings pitched. He gave up 64 hits and 17 runs during this work. His workload did drop during the month and his tiredness can be seen with the fact that he had a slight hamstring tendinitis towards the end of the month. This meant that Candy Cummings gained the last start of the month.
Bentley will be back in 5 days as it is only a slight injury.
The AL picked the following members of the Blues for the All Star squad. Pitchers Cy Bentley, Candy Cummings and Rynie Wolters, Catcher Frank Fleet, Left Fielder Steve King and Right Fielder George Fields
There were no starters in the AL's 10-7 win from the Blues.
