1st September 1873

The fans of the Brooklyn Atlantics continued to see improvement from their team in August. The team posted a 5-2 record for the month which saw them rise to 3rd in the NL table. They were now only 3 games behind the leading Chicago White Stockings.

The batting produced an excellent return in August with 60 runs in the 7 games played. The best of these was Short Stop Davy Force. Force had 30 at bats in 7 games starts gaining 16 hits from those attempts. This gave him an average of .533 for the month. He also claimed 8 runs and 5 RBI's. The fans were surprised when this wasn't deemed good enough for the NL batting award.

The pitching continued to be led by Ed Stratton. Stratton pitched all 7 games with a work load of 61 innings. This work load saw him give up 97 hits and 24 earned runs for an ERA of 3.54. the team gave up a total of 54 runs during the month.

The Atlantics played 7 games in August
They started with 2-1 series win against the Cincinnati Reds. The scores were 14-12, 6-11 and 7-2
The next series saw them Beat the Boston Red Stockings 2-1. the scores were 6-4, 6-17 and 12-3
The final game saw the Atlantics beat the Chicago White Stockings 9-5
