The fans of the Canaries are starting to sense that the pressure their team is applying is starting to tell. The team picked up a 4-3 record in August to edge them ever closer to the top of the AL table as they now sit only 2.5 games behind the St. Louis Brown Stockings.

The batting was solid if unspectacular again as they picked up 39 runs in the 7 games played. The best of the batting came in the form of Right Fielder Eddie Booth. Booth started 6 games and had 27 at bats. These at bats produced 10 hits, 5 runs and 3 RBI's to give him an average of .370

The pitching is the thing that is winning the team the games as Cherokee Fisher again produced a wonderful month.Fisher pitched 62 innings in 7 games to post an ERA of 2.76. He gave up 79 hits and 19 earned runs. This was again good enough to win him his 11th AL Pitcher of the Month award. The team gave up a total of 53 runs.

Fred Cone returned from injury early in the month and Sy Studley was sent back to the minors.
