The fans of the Red Stockings are not sure where the team is heading this season after they posted another average month in July. The team managed a 3-4 month and fell to 3rd place in the NL. This leaves them 5.5 games behind the leading White Stockings.
The team did okay on the batting side of the team as they scored 52 runs during the month. The best of the batting came in the form of Short Stop Mike McGreary. McGreary played all 7 games and had 34 at bats in which he gained an average of .471. He did this with 16 hits, 5 runs and 5 RBI's.
The pitching struggled a little in July. Bobby Mathews had his worst month for a while as he posted an ERA of 4.05 from the 7 game starts. He only pitched 46.2 innings in which he gave up 74 hits and 21 earned runs. The team gave up 65 runs in total
