The first month of the new season has not been as good to the Baltimore Canaries as the previous 2 seasons have been. The team struggled to find form as they got used to the new managers methods and tactics. They posted a 3-5 record in April which left them in an unfamiliar position in the AL table as they lie last.
The teams batting was solid with 56 runs scored. The best of them was third year veteran George Wright. Short Stop Wright started all 8 games and had 39 at bats. From this he gained 14 hits, 8 runs and 4 RBI's including 1 home run. This gave him an average of .359 for the month.
The pitching is where the team has started badly this season. Cherokee Fishers form at the start of the season has not shown what the fans know he is capable of. He started all 8 games and pitched 71 innings. In this work he gave up 104 hits and 36 earned runs for an ERA of 4.56. The team as a whole gave up 68 runs.
