The Brooklyn Atlantics had another below average month to keep them rooted to the bottom of the NL. They managed a 4-5 record in the month of September. This wasn't helped by the fact that pitcher John McMullin went down with another 4 week injury in mid September This led to changes in the front office.
GM Kenny Butler found out that there is no sympathy or sentimentality in Baseball. Last season he helped the Atlantics to the championship win but this year they are rooted to the bottom of the table. This has led to him being fired by Mr Diment the owner. The new GM was announced as the ex St. Louis Brown Stockings GM Gabriel Morgan. The fans are hoping he will bring more success to Brooklyn than he did to St. Louis and hope he will fill the issue position of pitcher in the next draft.
The team scored 93 runs in September. This though is skewed by 2 big scoring games. The best of the batting was Dick Higham who played 8 games after his return from injury. He had 40 at bats and gained 20 hits. This gave him an average of .500 along with 11 runs and 10 RBI's. This performance was enough to earn him the NL Batter of the Month award.
The pitching was again hit by injuries. George Bechtel had to stand in again. In 5 games he posted an ERA of 3.60. In the 4 games the John McMullin played he posted an ERA of 4.11. Between them they pitched 65.2 innings and gave up 99 hits and 28 earned runs. The team gave up 111 runs.
