The Canaries continue to play average ball as they slowly move towards the AL title. In August they managed to post a 4-3 record. This was good enough to maintain the top position in the AL table and extend their lead over the Philadelphia Athletics to 2.5 games.

The batting seemed to lose some focus in August as they only scored 37 runs in the 7 games played. The best of these was Catcher Fergy Malone. Malone went to the plate 29 times and claimed 11 hits to get an average of .379. He also managed to score 7 runs and 1 RBI.

Cherokee Fisher kept the pitching figures as tight as normal as he pitched all seven games. He posted an ERA of 3.60 from 55 innings pitched. This included giving up 70 hits and 22 earned runs. The team gave up 49 runs in total in August.

They started with 3 games against the Philadelphia Athletics. They won this series 2-1. The scores were 4-1, 3-4 and 7-5.
They then played a 3 game series against the St. Louis Brown Stockings. This finished 1-2.The scores were 2-9, 9-1 and 4-22.
They finished the month with a game against the Cleveland Forest City's which they won 8-7
