St. Louis showed a spark of form for the new GM and Manager. The team went 4-3 on the month. This means they are still bottom of the AL table but closer to the rest of the league.

The batting scored 52 runs during July. The top batter was Rookie Short Stop Tom Barlow. Barlow posted an average of .429 for the month. This was achieved from 15 hits in 35 at bats. This gave him 9 runs and 7 RBI's. These figures earned him the AL Rookie of the Month award.

George Zettlein produced his best month's figures for a long while. He put up an ERA of 1.78 for the month of July. He did this from 50.2 innings pitched. He gave up 64 hits and 10 earned runs. The team gave up 40 runs in total.

The players selected for the All Star game included Pitchers George Zettlein and Martin Malone, Catchers Cap Anson and Charlie Hodes, First Baseman Jim Foran, Second Baseman Charlie Sweasy, Third Baseman Harry Schafer and Centre Fielder George Hall.

The only player that started for the unsuccessful AL team was Cap Anson.

The Brown Stocking played 7 games in July
They started with 2 wins against Cleveland 10-0 and 8-3
They then played the Baltimore Canaries 3 times winning 1 and losing 2. The scores were 8-3, 7-8 and 7-11
They finished with 2 games against the Philadelphia Athletics. They shared these games with scores 2-8 and 10-7
