Miami’s Dave Wilbraham hit for the cycle in a massive 17-4 victory over the Phillies. The 27 year old center fielder went 4-6 with 6 RBI.

Seattle right fielder Yasiel Puig hit homerun #300 today. The veteran is having a surprisingly productive year, owning a .295/.346/.472 line.

Pittsburgh’s Francisco Lindor nabbed hit #2000 in today’s game. He went 2-4 in a 6-5 victory over the Marlins.

Cole Ragans of the Mets tossed a no-no against the Braves today. The 30 year old struck out 4 and surrendered 3 walks in a 6-0 victory.

The Twins’ Chris Elliot suffered a season ending injury in today’s game. The right fielder was in obvious pain following a swing and a miss. An MRI has confirmed that he has torn his latissimus dorsi muscle.
Monthly Review
July was a mediocre month for the Padres. The team went 14-13, bringing their overall record to 63-43. The team remains in 1st place in the West, and are now 4.5 games ahead of the Diamondbacks. The bullpen has struggled lately, dropping down to 6th in the NL in ERA. The offense is performing better, and the power numbers have picked up a bit. C Jose Rodriguez now leads the club in HR with 17. The youngsters on the roster have really struggled so far this season. 3B Kyoichi Inoue has a .217/.239/.248 line, SS Alfredo Miranda has a .207/.250/.273 line, and SS Yajirobei Fukuda has a .210/.295/.294 line. SP Bryan Hoeing, SP Raul Barosio, and CL Jorge Fernandez have continued to dominate opposing batters.
