2028 Draft
With the 22nd overall pick in the 2028 Draft, the San Diego Padres selected 2B Jim DeWitt. I have a little more faith in DeWitt than the scouting report does. As of this moment, he is projected to be a bench bat, but after taking a look at his potential, I could see him as an everyday player. The way I see it, he’s projected to be a slightly worse Chris McKinney – they have similar gap power, HR power, and are tough outs. McKinney makes better contact, and has a better eye, but DeWitt has a good work ethic and room to grow. If he can improve his eye, I think he’d be a pretty solid option at second base.
RHP Jonathan Burgess was the #1 overall selection (Boston).
