I have a book published in 2002 by a G. Scott Thomas called "Leveling the Field." The author, using a convoluted formula, purports to compare teams and players of different eras.

Towards the end of the book, using a formula that he has devised, Mr. Thomas comes up with a list of his choices for the100 best and100 worst teams from 1901 to 2001 or so.

The book is available at Amazon for $0.01. Yes, that's 1 cent. 14 people reviewed it and they either loved it, or hated it.

The book sounds kind of what you are trying to do, so I thought I would mention it to you.
