Monthly Review
Despite being in 1st place, the Padres have not gotten off to the kind of start that they were hoping for. The team is currently 14-11, sitting on top of the NL West by 1.5 games. As expected, the team’s pitching staff has come out of the gate hot and is dominating. However, the offense has been stagnant. In this young season, the Padres rank near the bottom of the NL in nearly every statistical category. It’s still very early in the season, so it’s not time to panic just yet, but the club’s hitting needs to improve in a hurry if the Padres want to be successful this year.
