The Athletics fans saw a spark in their teams August performance that they will hopefully have a better season next year as they went 3-2 for the month. They moved up to third in the AL table but are no longer in the pennant race.

The batting was solid as it gained 46 runs in August. For the second month running the star was Right Fielder Gat Stires. He had an average of .478 from 23 at bats. This gave him 11 hits, 8 runs and 2 RBI's.

The pitching of Dickie McBride was slightly poorer in the month of August as he posted an ERA of 4.02. He pitched 47 innings in the 5 games and gave up 56 hits and 21 earned runs. The team gave up 28 runs in total.

Everett Mills was placed on waivers mid month but had no takers so stayed with the club.
