Cincinnati Reds fans are starting to worry that their team will not manage to earn the NL pennant this year. The team went 2-3 for the month of August which saw them joined at the top of the NL table by Brooklyn.
It was a poor month for both pitching and batting alike.
The batting's best was Catcher Cal McVey who posted an average of .391. He did this from 23 at bats gaining 9 hits, 3 runs and 4 RBI's. First baseman Joe Start also posted a .391 average.
Chick Fulmer returned from injury after a 1 game rehab at the AAA Louisville Bats.
The pitching had a horrible August as Al Pratt struggled to an ERA of 6.32 for the month. He pitched 37 innings to give up 57 hits and 26 earned runs. The team gave up a total of 37 runs.
