Cavaliers News:
Injuries:
Jeff Lewis, Broken kneecap, 4 months
Claudio Perez, Bone chips, 4 months
Tom Anderson, Hamstring Strain, 3-4 weeks
Augusto Rodriguez, torn meniscus, 4-5 weeks
Ramon Granados, diagnosis pending
Augusto Rodriguez will finish his season early this year after tearing his menisucs. Rodriguez finishes the year hitting .318-4-31, in 107 games. Hopefully he earned the respect back from some of his naysayers.
With Rodriguez out, my best two short-stops, Augusto Roriguez and Tom Anderson are out. The next best SS is Joe Chambers and Denny Dooley. Looks like Dooley or Mario Reyes will play short, but losing both Anderson and Rodriguez is a pretty big deal.
I have elected to go with Dooley at SS and Mario Candelaria at 2nd. Reyes and Velez will both be looked at as well, for possible the 2B job during the playoffs. Candy just isn't hitting the ball... or I could get a little crazy and play Ramon Granados at 2B. He has played 30 games there this season, posting a .967 FPct, -1.8 ZR and has committed 2 errors in 123.0 innings. It would be a better bat in the game, but he would have to be pulled in the 6th for D purposes. Its a thought...
Granados was pulled form the game in the 4th inning, after suffering an injury while making a play on defense. The severity of the injury is unknown, and I hope I hear before the start of the playoffs. This has been a rough final month in regards to posistion players... ugh.

GM Notes:
During last years off-season I was watching the trade wire and I saw that the #19 prospect (in 2021), Miguel Angel Gonzalez, was traded to the Milford Clippers for almost nothing. So I decided to see if they would trade him to me for just about the same. They were willing to deal, I traded a 2* outfielder (Sanho Masarenahas: .263-2-12 / 24 G) and 10th round pick and I got him. Gonzalez spent 3 years in the international complex before getting the call up in 2021. This year we had him start the season in AA and after 14 starts (11-1 1.77) he earned a call-up to AAA, where he did just as good (11-2 2.94). This 21-yr old is going to be star and hopefully he can work on his control and he will be with the big-league club in no time. He reminds many people of Paul Brown, which is great praise considering what Brown has done this year. Gonzalez dropped to the 97 on the top 100, but I expect him to see a bump in 2023.
Winning 113 games is quite an impresive feat for this team Our starting rotation turned out to be the best 1-5 in Cavaliers history:
Miguel Contreras: 19-2 2.02
Matt Hollis: 17-6 2.95
Cornell Pearson: 19-6 3.18
Paul Brown: 17-6 3.83
Takayuki Iemochi: 20-6 2.73
After 2 back-to-back 19 win seasons Iemochi finally hit that magical 20 number.
Vaughan Griffith pithced out of the pen all season this year and wow did he do an impressive job. I would like to put him in the rotation, but after his impressive season as the set-up man it might be hard to. On the season Griffith went 5-1 1.70, allowing just 9 ER in 47.2 IP.
The season ended well for wins vs loses, but painfully for health. I will have a couple big roster decisiosn to make before the playoffs start, but I am happy with the way we are playing. A little nervous out the health of my hitters however... Lets just get the playoffs going that way we can see how it goes... I am ready to win Championship #6!

This year he did it again, collecing 231.
