Cavaliers News:
Injuries:
Augusto Rodriguez was having bounce back year after falling off in 2021, but that has been put on hold after he was diagnosed with a strained oblique, which will shelve him for 4 weeks.
On the season Augusto is hitting .310-4-25, and has committed only 2 errors at SS.
Mario Gomez was added to the Norfolk Cavaliers roster to take Augusto's slot. Gomez is hitting .399-12-63 in AAA.
Other/Roster News:
Lineup Change. Mario Gomez will take over and play 3B, and Tom Anderson will move over to play SS while Augusto is out. Depending on how this works, Dooley may end up at SS with Candy getting some more PT. Going to be an interesting period, with Augusto out.
GM Notes:
Dalton had some issues in his game against the Ports. Not sure if its conencidence or not, but he lost some speed on his FB as well. Hopefully that won't carry on. I would like him to be my closer for another year or two (at least).
Paul Brown had a nice week, yet took a loss and ND. He gave up 3 runs in 16 innings. He has looked really solid this season and hopefully this is a nice sign of things to come in the future.
Two more months to play, and our goal is to stay healthy and get our bats going. We leave WAY too many runners on base. Its easier to take when you can pull out the victory, but when you take a loss and leave 10 runners on its a tough pill to swallow.
We lost 2 out of 3 to the Tourists, which is bad, but the way we did it made it even worse. Just didn't score runs, and personally I don't think their pitching is that great. Wasted 2 solid pitching performances.
Looks like our key to going deep in the post season is going to come from scoring a run or two when needed. All these LOB's are starting to get me a little nervous, this happened last season as well... however in the post season we just forgot how to hit the ball. I like this core better than last years team.
I didn't make any deals at the deadline, but I did shop a couple of guys around, as well as tried to pull off a deal for a prospect, but nothing came of it.
A tough week ahead, and only 59 games remain.
