Playoff Preview - MarVa Conference
The Barons come into the playoffs pretty healthy. They are missing a couple of middle relievers, their #5 starter and their ace. However their ace Arturo Ramirez missed the whole season, and that is when Vincent Parker stepped it up and had a career year, winning 19 games and posting a 3.05 ERA, both career bests. Last years team was the first playoff team in the history of the Barons, and this year they have a better offense (+100 runs) and better pitching (-8 runs). The loss in last years Championship game made the Barons hungrier this season and they are ready to take home the title.
The Cavaliers are all about pitching. Their offense this season was really inconsissent and ended up being the lowest scoring playoff team in Cavaliers history. They will need to score runs agains the high-scoring Barons if they expect to win this series. Pitching wise this is the 3rd best staff in Cavaliers history and with the way Iemochi and Contreras have been throwing the ball lately anything is possible. They only injury the Cavaliers are dealing with is with their #3 starter, Cornell Perason, who will miss the playoffs.
This series comes down to pitching versus hitting. They played .500 ball against each other this series with the Barons winning the first series and the last series and the Cav's taking to two center series. How does that translate to the end of they year, with both teams playing well? We have 7 games to figure that out. Prediction Barons in 6.
