This John Dawson died in January, 2014, at the age of 71, so it is likely that he was born in 1942. At any rate, he is not the Johnny Dawson listed in the Negro Baseball Register for the 1938-42 period of play in the Negro Leagues. Coincidentally, he was a catcher who played with the Birmingham Black Barons, but his stint with the team was in 1961. He also played with the Philadelphia Stars, but I don't know the year or years.
