Injuries:
King Brock, Broken Foot, 3 weeks

Other News:
King Brock was placed on the DL and will miss the next 3-4 weeks with a fractured foot. Brock was placed on the 11-day DL.

Jeff Lewis has been moved to the lead-off slot, Janchez dropped down to the #5 hole, and Francisco Gallegos is now batting #3. Mario Gomez will start at DH and bat 8th.

GM Notes:
Brock will be out for a month, and I have decided not to pull of the deal getting Billy Moore. He was due a lot of money next season and at 37 is in a decline. If Brock was out for the playoffs, Moore would be on this team right now, but we will make due, at least try to, with what we have.

MR Felix Diaz was moved from the 11-day DL to the 60-day DL freeing up a roster slot and AAA 3B Mario Gomez was called up to take Brocks slot on the roster. Gomez doesn't have the power I'd like to replace Brock with, but he has played well enough to deserve a shot. Gomez is a solid-3B and has is hitting .353-12-75 in AAA. Gomez is 22 and his hit over .340 in 3 straight AAA seasons. He will be eligible for the rule-5 draft if not on the 40-man this off-season, so this could be a big-shot for the 22 year old.

Mario Gomez struggled in his first week with the Cavaliers, hitting .118-1-1. That isn't the production I want out of my DH thats for sure. That Billy Moore deal is still lingering on my mind, problem is I'd have to pull it off today or tomorrow, cause September is coming. Do I want/need Billy? Its tough, he won't hit much, could flash some power, is a leader, overpaid... tough call.

Francisco Gallegos is in an awful slump, dropping his average under .300, and he is stuck at 43 doubles. Guess all this record breaking 2B talk scared him into forgetting how to hit. I still have faith, but I don't know he needs to come around. He is hitting .217 in August.

Ramon Granados went 2-3 in one rehab game in AAA and was brought up to take Mario Gomez's roster slot. Granados will man the DH role for 3 more weeks till Brock gets back.

This looks like it will be our first season since 2016, when we had 2 players reach the 19 win plateau, that we will now have a 20 game winner.

This week was gross. Our pitchers didn't give up more than 3 runs in any game, yet we only pulled off one win. What happened to the offense? It was just an amazing week. I am in quite a bit of shock.

Around the League:
Standings Leaders
DE Southern: Lewes Braves 71-59 (+1)
DE Northern: Milford Clippers 74-71 (+3)
MV Eastern: Baltimore Barons 83-47 (+6)
MV Western: Norfolk Cavaliers 86-44 (+20)

Players of the Week:
Delaware: Javier Trevino, Milford Clippers, 10-17, 2 HR's, 6 RBI's
MarVa: Cliff Jones, Chesapeake Blue Crabs, 12-25, 3 HR's, 10 RBI's, 4 R's

Power Rankings:
1) Baltimore Barons (113.9)
2) Norfolk Cavaliers (113.1)
3) Ocean City Tourists (111.6)
4) Milford Clippers (105.5)
5) Dover Generals (104.9)

News:
  • Jorge Fernandez of the Ellicott City Express went 4-5, hitting for the cycle. This is the 10th time in DBL history that a player has hit for the cycle. On a side note Jeff Lewis has done it twice, in 2015 and 2016, before coming to Norfolk, and is the only player to have done it more than once.
  • Jonathan Butler had his 20 game hit streak stopped. Butler has played 31 games so far this season for the Ellicott City Express. And has gotten a hit in 27 of them.
  • Francisco Reyes, of the Seaford Blue Jays, is sitting at 395 HR's for his career. He will be only the second player, after Abraham Thomas, who currently has 423.
  • Roberto Perez, of the Ocean City Tourists, is 3 runs away from 1000 for his career. He will be the first player in history to score 1000.
  • Billy Moore, of the Ellicott City Express, is 22 RBI's from 1000 for his career. He will be the 3rd member of the 1000 RBI club.
