CLAXTON CRUSHES RATTLERS 12-3 IN OPENER
Lightly-regarded Claxton opened up the Ruthlandian LCS with a bang... the Diamonds massacred Sugar Valley 12-3 in the opening game of the series... Abe Schiffman (1-0/3.00) put a lid on the Ratters, holding them to six hits and three runs... he fanned six batters and walked two in a route-going job... Antonio Cedeno (1-2/4.67) was clobbered for eight hits and eight runs and was gone in the fourth frame, when the Diamonds posted seven runs.
Claxton star 1B Jojo DeLucca (.318) rapped three hits, drove in four runs and scored twice to lead the 12-hit attack... LF Whit Miley (.458), 2B Rich Emery (.053) and SP Abe Schiffman (.250) each batted in two runs... and four players posted two hits apiece: CF Darryl Daniels (.280), SS Stevie Wynn (.500), LF Whit Miley (.458) and 3B Rick Clayburne (.360).
LF Jeff Harvey (.250) went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs to pace Sugar Valley... RF Bobby Gamble (.217) also homered.

REDS ROLL TO 6-3 WIN OVER SUN SOX IN GAME 1
On the road in Southport's Pleasure Beach Park, the visiting Rolling Hills Reds rolled to a 6-3 victory in game one of the Tycobbian League Championship Series over the defending Pro Cup champion Sun Sox.
Three pitchers checked Southport on six hits with the win going to starter Matthew Christianson (2-1/1.29), who chunked the first six frames, yielding two runs on five hits with 5 Ks and a couple of walks... Marty Phillips (0-0/0.00) worked a runless seventh inning and Benny Young closed it out for his second save in the postseason... Young (0-0/2.25/2 saves) allowed one unearned run in his two innings... the Reds walked six batters... Southport had a lot of baserunners, but left 11 on.
The Reds tagged the loss on Billy Hoover (1-3/1.54), who was the victim of shoddy defense... Hoover allowed six runs, but only three of them were earned... the Sun Sox defense committed three errors... Hoover worked a complete game... Rolling Hills also made three miscues and gave up two unearned runs.
Rolling Hills was sparked by RF Vic Scott (.421) with 2-3, including a triple, two runs scored and an RBI... CF Will Sanders (.292) doubled in a run and score twice... and 2B Miguel Romeros (.200) and C Kyle Edwards (.280) also drove in one run apiece... the Reds walked six batters... Southport had a lot of baserunners, but left 11 on... 1B Eddy Douglas (.273) collected two hits and batted in a run for the Sun Sox... and CF Ross Good (.379) had two hits and scored a run.
