GM Notes:
I can't tell you how bummed I am about the injury to Mauro Candelaria. I want to keep him around, but I hope he denies the player option. I don't see him making more than 6 mil on the open market especially as oft injured as he has been. He has been one of my favorite players and the face of the Cavaliers since 2013 one of only 2 remaining players from the opening day roster 2013. Its sad to watch him fade, was hoping he would go out with a blaze of glory.

Its cool watching Francisco Gallegos get his swing back. His average is now up to .296 and eventhough he only has 6 HR's he is leading the league with 35 doubles. Including one in each game this week. He will approach the 2B record of 50, but I assume he will fall short. He reminds me a lot of a kid named King Brock when he first came up.

Jeff Lewis is having such a solid season, and he is doing it very quietly. Currently he is hitting .341-10-47, yet no one would ever know it. He goes about his business quietly and leads by example. I think he should get more accolades for the way he plays, but his quite demeanor keeps him from being in the front. Its fun having his consistency on the team.

Javier Janchez (.277-7-32, 20 SB) and Sergio Galvez (.275-11-57, 19 SB) have made for a nice 1-2 punch over the past couple of months. Both players went through an early season benching since neither one really seemed to want to start, but it looks like after all this team I made the right choice. Galvez is on pace to drive in over 100 and he is only going to get better and Janchez has only 2 errors in the outfield this season and at 23 is enjoying a break out year. With Jeff Lewis this has to be one of the best outfields, defensively and offensively in the league.

It took us 91 games to finally play an extra inning game, and I have to say I don't mind not playing them. Last season we couldn't seem to win one and this year we just don't have them. I like not having them more, way better on the pitching staff. I wonder if this will open up the flood gates or was it a fluke...

Trade deadline is approaching and I think I am going to stand still. The only movement would be for a 2B to replace Dooley since Candelaria is out yet again. One thing I may end up doing is bringing up Bernardo Velez, he is hitting over .300 in AAA. Is he ready? He may end up being our starter in 2022 and I'd hate to ruin is ROY chances by playing him now. Maybe Reyes is ready to come back up... That could mean Julio Saldana is available for trade. He didn't sign last season, sat out all of 2020 and has been really impressive this year. Maybe exploring that will make sense.

Around the League:
Standings Leaders
DE Southern: Lewes Braves 54-38 (+7)
DE Northern: Milford Clippers 54-38 (+5)
MV Eastern: Ocean City Tourists 57-35 (+1)
MV Western: Norfolk Cavaliers 65-27 (+21) *14 game winning streak

Players of the Week:
Delaware: Peter Peters, New Castle Colonails, 7-15, 2 HR's, 4 RBIs
MarVa: Enrique Macias, Salisbury Ports, 8-9, 3 RBI's

Power Rankings:
1) Norfolk Cavaliers (151.2)
2) Baltimore Barons (110.6)
3) Annapolis Admirals (109.8)
4) Lewes Braves (108.7)
5) Ocean City Tourists (108.5)

News:
  • The rumors out of Richmond are that middle man Steve McClellan isn't happy and is ready for a change of scenery. McClellan was traded to Richmond from Ellicott City during this past off-season, after the first year of a 3-year deal. The two time All-Star hasn't been the same since an arm injury cut his 2018 season short. This year he is 1-2 4.85 with 7 saves in 40 games.
  • Leonard Davis of the Lewes Braves will miss 4-5 weeks thanks to a fractured finger. The Braves will miss the big-bat of Davis. Davis was hitting .290-19-46 on the season, he should return ready to help the Braves finish the play-off run.
  • The Annapolis Admirals who are in rebuilding phase acquired 34-yr-old SP Carlos Torres (7-9 5.75) from the Washington Senators for back-up OF Miguel Ruiz (.253-7-23). Ruiz is signed for 2 more years and Torres will be a free agent at the end of the year, both players make a little over $8,500,000 per year.
  • The Washington Senators are slumping an dhtey are looking for a spark. Sometimes trading away a fan favorite works and sometimes it doesn't. Derek Campbell (.221-17-44) was slumping this year, and starting to cost too much for the Senators, so they shipped him off to the Chesapeake Blue Crabs in exchange for 34-year old catcher Roberto Villalobos (.268-5-13). Villalobos is signed for 4 more years and the Senators are hoping he can return to his 2020 form. The change of scenery should help both players.

Personal Note: Grad school is starting up again, so the next 6 weeks might not be as active as I have been... I am not giving up on this year or dynasty.
