The
Orioles start out right. They take advantage of a
Dodgers error to score 3 times in the opening frame. The
Dodgers storm back with a 3 spot of their own in the fifth, and star
Gil Hodges put them infront for good, with a 2 run homer in the seventh.
Dodgers win game one, 8-5.
A first inning
Minnie Minoso home run was the only damage the
Dodgers were able to inflict on
Orioles starter
Ewell Blackwell. With the game tied in the Bottom of the ninth,
Orioles slugger,
Steve Bilko, ended the game with a walk off solo home run.
Orioles win 2-1.
Lou Brissie pitched a complete game, and knocked in the winning run, during a 3 run, fifth inning, as the
Dodgers win game three, 3-2.
Game 4 was over before it started.
Gene Hermanski and
Minnie Minoso both hit three run home runs, and the score was 11-0 after three innings. The
Dodgers cruise to a game four victory.
The
Orioles pitchers again cannot avoid the big innings, as the
Dodgers score 5 runs in the fourth, and 4 runs in the sixth. That was more then enough, as
Brooklyn takes the game 9-6, and wins another World Series!
