1895 Key Retirees - Hitters


Lew Brown, C, Braves

Longest tenured player in the league and final member of the inaugural 1876 season. Two Gold Gloves. Led league in strikeouts in 1879.





Arlie Latham, 3B, Cardinals

Two Gold Gloves. Top 10 in stolen bases ten times, including five second place finishes. Top 10 in hits three times and batting average twice.




Dave Orr, RF/1B, Giants

Fine hitter who was forced to play outfield for most of his career due to the presence of Dan Brouthers at first base. 1883 RoY. Led league in hits as a rookie, and finished Top 10 an additional four times. Led league in runs in 1884. Top 10 in batting average three times and SLG twice.




Fred Pfeffer, SS, Giants

Power hitting infielder. Led league in triples in 1884 and sac flies in 1882. Top 10 in strikeouts five times and stolen bases twice.
