Spring Training has finally started, we had a really boring offseason. We did not sign anyone. I am going with a youth movement. I want to build a team thru the draft not thru free agency or thru trades. Not saying I want make trades or sign some players that are available but I want to see what this latest draft class can do.
We have several position battles going into ST. SS is open spot. Overfelt vs Packer. Stacy Spear (she married Scott on Valentine's Day at the Thunderdome), Bromden, Fajous, Toni Jones, Peabosy will compete for the backup positions. Packer & Overfelt might platoon LHP for Overfelt since he hit lefties at .353 and RHP for Packer. Slight chance I might trade Overfelt at some point.
CF is somewhat open between Parker & Millatone, it is up to Parker. RF is somewhat open between Burke & Kazan & Parker. Backup C is wide open with Bair, San Antonio, Maracle & Harris competing. Spear will probably catch 130 G vs the 111 starts last year.
All bench spots are wide open. DH is open battle with Wyatt, Jones, Peabody & Kazan there. lefty vs righty platoon.
the majority of OD starters will sit and come in late or come out early. Falcone, Mack, Pearl & Kline.
Starting rotation is set although the order is not. I want to go with all 3 LHP then DeBoer then Proctor but that will be decided after ST. Pen only has 1 open spot long relief. Norm Maclean holds the edge but Paul Maclean, Ruetecki both Ackbar brothers and the rest will compete for that spot.
I signed several new coaches at AA Lombard and a new SD Pablo Ozuna.
