Arbitration / Free Agency
The Cardinals won their only arbitration case. Min-Zhong You received a one-year contract for $900K. You asked for $1.25 million. You have got to be kidding me.
Kolten Wong was offered arbitration and declined, becoming a compensation-eligible free agent. It is clear that the Cardinals intend to move on from their long-time star. Wong is asking for a seven year contract worth $140 million.

There’s no Jake Odorizzi in that group of pitchers. Fortunately, I am not looking for that level of player this year. There are a lot of attractive players in the mid-range (2-3 stars) group, and I am hoping that some of them will slip into February and be amenable to a one-year contract. I have ample money available for this year, but next year could be tight if I sign Crawford.
