Thursday, April 26, 1877, at Boston Red Caps (6-2 2nd place in the Liberty League)
Abe Everette, Troy (28 L 0-0 3.68) vs. John Callaham, Bos. (28 R 5-1 2.21)
Won - 4 to 3
Through 7 innings we only had 1 hit (by me) and no runs. We scored twice in the 8th, thanks to a couple of Boston errors and a John Hagadorn 2-run single. We scored 2 more in the top of the 9th on a Crazy Kelley double and a Wash Horsfall single. Abe Everette cruised through the first 8 innings, but suddenly started giving up hits in the 9th. RF Jimmy Gerber saved the day, though, by throwing out the tying run at the plate to end the game.
Other Games:
Washington (2) at Pittsburgh (11) - Bones Lane (3-4) over Cal Wright (1-7). LF Silver Borresen had 2 hits with a triple and scored twice. RF Arther Purfield had 2 hits with a double, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run.
St. Louis (9) at Philadelphia (7) - Fred Cline (5-1) over Charlie Moss (3-5). SS Frank Young had 3 hits, stole a base, score 2 runs and had 2 RBIs and made 2 errors. 2B Bub Crawford had 2 hits with a home run and scored twice.
