1944-45 Offseason News and Notes
Mexican born SS Claudio Solano is a little bit of a surprise #1 pick for the Braves. He’s a guy that never played in the majors in real life. Overall, it’s a fairly weak draft class. Some good players, but I don’t see any potential star here.
Lou Gehrig and Mule Suttles each were forcibly retired this year. Neither play at all anymore, they are on the wrong side of 40. Didn’t make sense to have them sit around, doing nothing. In a story that maybe would make sense, I’ve converted them both to coaches, as the only thing they really could have been doing these past few years is learning the trade. Here’s a look at both legendary careers.
Both these players flew a bit under the radar, considering they both played for the Phillies offensive juggernaut. Showboat Fisher was traded right before the real domination began. IF they kept him, they probably win atleast 1 more championship.
