Summer 2014:
June 30th:
Marcel Goc re-signs with Montreal for 3 seasons at $1,800,000 per season.
July 1st:
Montreal signs Paul Stastny to a 5 year deal at over $6.8M. It is rumored to contain a no-movement clause.
July 6th:
Three contract extensions were signed. Galchenyuk signed for 5 years at $2,960,000. Gallagher signed for 3 seasons at $2,750,000. Beaulieu will make $1,010,000 per year for 3 years. Patrick Kane announced he would not be re-signing with the Habs after this season.
July 9th:
While not a splash, the Habs addressed some needs today by adding a backup and a young dman of size. Andres Lindback was signed for 2 years at $730,437 per season. Large format defenseman Simon Despres signed on for 3 seasons at $704,956 each year.
July 10th:
The Habs sign Sami Vatanen to a 3 year deal at $550,000 per.
July 20th:
Montreal makes the headlines across the NHL with a huge trade! Instead of waiting until the trade deadline to address what to do with impending free agent Patrick Kane who declared he would not be re-signing with the Habs, they dealt him in a hug multi-player deal that brings some local flavor to the team.
To Florida:
Patrick Kane, David Desharnais, the rights to Colin Sullivan, and a 6th round pick in 2017
To Montreal:
David Perron and Jonathan Huberdeau
Overall I think this is a very fair trade as Perron only has one more year left on his deal and Huberdeau is restricted after this year. Kane and Desharnais have high value especially if Kane can be re-signed.
July 21st:
Extensions to announce! Huberdeau, seemingly pleased with his coming to Montreal, signed on for 4 more seasons at $2,530,000 per year. Tinordi will make $880,000 a year for the next 3. Bournival signed an expensive extension at $2,320,000 a year for 4 years. Magnus Nygren will be at an affordable $1,020,000 for 3 seasons.
August 2nd:
Depth move as Montreal signs Landon Ferraro to a two year, two way deal at $550,000 per.
August 3rd:
Hamilton will continue getting stronger as the Habs signed young players Richard Panik and Tyler Pitlick to 3 year deals at $550,000 per seasons.
August 17th:
Gabriel Dumont signs a 3 year extension.
September 22nd:
One last roster tweak before the season starts.
To Anaheim:
Rene Bourque
To Montreal:
2015 3rd round pick
Getting over 3 million dollars off the books is already a treat, to be able to get a nice pick on top of that is a great thing.
