Tuesday August 8 vs. Boston Red Caps (29-24 tied for 3rd place in the Liberty League)

We are 1-1 against Joe Phelps, but he has a 1.47 ERA against us.

Joe Phelps, Bost. (32 L 4-4 2.34) vs. Abe Lowe, Troy (27 R 18-21 2.29)

Won: 22 to 4

We got 6 hits and Boston made 4 errors and we scored 7 runs in the 1st inning! May have had more, but rf Porter Thorpe got thrown out at the plate to end the inning. Set the all-time mark for runs scored by a Liberty league team! Unbelievable! See if we can avoid getting shutout next game.... We had 20 hits and Boston made 13 errors. Everybody in the lineup had at least 2 hits! Ed Tomlinson's 2 were both doubles and he knocked in 5 runs. ss Emil Moore scored 4 times. Abe Lowe scored and knocked in 3! Wish I could have saved some of these hits up.....

Other doin's:
Baltimore (2) at Philadelphia (6): Paul Skinner (24-14) over Miller Bullock (12-19). Skinner held Baltimore to 6 hits. cf Jim Kruppa had 3 hits and a triple for Philly. 30 year old 2b Bert Perry, making his Liberty League debut for the injured Ed Fraser, had a pair of doubles and knocked in a run.

New York (5) at Washington (1): Harry Mays (24-14) over Pete Tyson (16-21). Washington only managed 4 hits off Mays. ss Dick Komp and 3b Sparrow Thompson each had a pair of hits for New York. Thompson scored twice and Komp knocked in 2. Washington's 3b Pat Lee had a hit to set a new mark at 22 games in a row.

Detroit (3) at St. Louis (4): John Bailey (6-9) over John Walker (14-12). Bailey held Detroit to 4 hits. ss Jim Huth had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for St. Louis.
