Wednesday June 28 at St. Louis Brown Stockings (19-17 tied for 3rd place in the Liberty League)

Dan Melvin, Troy (27 R 5-4 3.04) vs. John Bailey, St. L. (27 R 0-1 3.00)

Won: 5 to 3

We scored 3 times in the first with a couple of hits and 4 St. Louis errors. Then we did not score again until the 9th inning when an Ed Tomlinson triple broke the 3-3 tie. You knew it was coming sooner or later: rf Porter Thorpe, our best hitter, tore a ligament in his thumb and will miss a month. Put him on the DL and recalled Joe Wells from Rochester.

Other doin's:
Baltimore (4) at Boston (10): Monk Cunningham (14-14) over Miller Bullock (9-10). Cunningham held Baltimore to 5 hits.

Detroit (5) at Washington (4) in 12 innings: John Walker (7-6) over Paul O'Sullivan (1-4) in relief of Pete Tyson. Washington scored 3 times in the bottom of the 9th to send the game to overtime. lf Jake McGuire hit a home run in the top of the 12th to win it. Manager/rf Jack Trammel had 4 hits for the Wolverines.

New York (7) at Philadelphia (10): Paul Skinner (16-10) over John Kyle (3-8). lf Dave Bigelow had 5 hits for Philly. rf Jumbo Reeher only had one, but scored 4 times.

Down in Rochester, Madison Coy tossed a shutout against London and improved his record to 16-9.
