A pretty good start to the season is wasted when the go 9-19 in August and fail to make the post season. The Reds are below .500 for the 2nd straight season and for only the 4th time in 17 seasons since taking over the Reds for the 2011 season. It maybe time to rebuild the franchise.

Starters Team Age W-L ERA GS IP Whip Injured
Manny Perez Reds 24 15-10 4.47 31 203 1.28
Bart Whinnett Reds 27 10-7 3.87 33 183 1.08
Manuel Campos Reds 32 7-7 4.83 24 156 1.35
Hubert Lucas Reds 27 8-12 6.84 32 154 1.53

Pedro Martinez Reds 24 0-3 7.89 4 21 1.98
Roberto Mora Reds 27 1-0 3.86 1 9 1.39
Octavio Salazar AAA 32 7-10 6.85 27 138 1.70
George Wheeler AAA 24 1-6 7.38 13 57 1.76

The Reds could not settle on a 5 man rotation all season with an injury to Larry Baker that messed up the rotation, Campos struggling after the trade going (3-5, 5.55 ERA in 12 starts) after the deal. Lucas missed all of the 2026 season with an injury and had his 1st career losing season, his highest ERA prior to this season was 4.50. Walsh was expected to crack the rotation, but could not get consistant while only Perez and Whinnett could really be counted on.

The Reds changed closers mid way through the season after Miranda struggled then got injured, Bayley and Miranda were both expected to add more to the pen then they did. Coleman and Johnson were pleasant additions though.

Catchers Team Age AB HR RBI AVG OPS Injured
Jesus Lopez Reds 25 454 47 106 0.311 1.012
Stan Shelton Reds 26 311 22 47 0.305 0.928
Sergio Martinez Reds 27 30 0 2 0.300 0.767

The only problem here was that we couldn't find enough at bats for Shelton. Maybe a position change or use him for trade bait is appropriate.

Infielders Team Age AB HR RBI AVG OPS Injured
Jeff White Reds 27 492 10 54 0.244 0.721
Domingo Machado Reds 33 478 25 66 0.257 0.807
Josh Gibson Reds 28 357 6 44 0.224 0.636
Wayne Sheehan Reds 33 302 11 36 0.301 0.838
Albert Gonzalez Reds 24 293 9 47 0.321 0.841
Roberto Cortez Reds 26 228 13 43 0.351 0.975
Vicente Hernandez Reds 23 152 3 19 0.329 0.836
Sadakuno Kimura AAA 31 172 3 16 0.233 0.692 6 months

Never really missed the loss of Andrew Cooper, Gonzalez and Cortez replaced him nicely.

Outfielders Team Age AB HR RBI AVG OPS Injured
Billy Anderson Reds 30 596 44 110 0.312 0.917
Jose Quinones Reds 27 583 34 96 0.276 0.849
David Reed Reds 30 442 18 55 0.260 0.783
Cesar Bautista Reds 33 363 22 51 0.253 0.777
Steve Garc Reds 26 188 13 44 0.223 0.734
Daniel Gonzales Reds 26 122 5 11 0.221 0.676
Dan Swain Reds 29 7 0 0 0.143 0.286

The lowest HR and RBI totals for over 5 years for Anderson (.308, 31 HR and 73 RBIs in 2022). Garc and Quinones should be our future, not sure what can be done with Bautista.
