The Browns are going for their MLB record 4th World Series win in a row. The NY Highlanders of 1905-07 also won 3 times in a row, but lost to the Boston Doves in their attempt at 4. As I’ve already said, the Browns are missing 2 excellent pitchers. Other then Robert Griffith, the rotation is very poor. It’s up to the offense.
Brooklyn got here with 2 castoffs. Mel Ott and Jimmie Foxx. Ott was a serviceable player, with medicore ratings in Detroit. After a 1934 trade to Brooklyn, everything clicked. He’s become a star, knocking in 133 or more runs in three of the last four years. Jimmie Foxx was a hot shot prospect, who suffered some massive talent drops. He played well when he got a chance, but has been dumped by 3 teams. 1939 was a huge breakout for him. 36 home runs and 138 RBI’s. He’s found a home too.
