The Reds scored 3 in the top of the 4th to take a 3-2 lead, added 4 more in the 6th to lead 7-2 and the eventual win. Reds 2B Domingo Machado goes 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs including a 2-run HR, his 25th of the year. C Jesus Lopez had 3 hits and his 45th HR of the season as well. Reds SP Bart Whinnett (10-5) allowed 4 runs on 5 hits while giving up 3 HRs and striking out 10 over 7 innings. MR Kent Bell got the final 2 outs for his 1st career save in 12 career appearances.


September 22nd, 2027

Cincinnati 8 Kansas City 5 (10)
The Reds took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 4th with a 3 run inning but the Royals came back with 3 of their own in the bottom of the 5th to take a 5-3 lead. The Reds tied it with 2 in the 7th and then won it in the 10th. Steve Garc hit a 3-run HR in the 10th for the win and the Royals left the based loaded in the bottom half of the 10th as the Reds escape with the win. Reds SP Larry Baker allowed 5 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts but also gave up 3 HRs over 4.1 innings. CL Jorge Martinez (7-5) got the win despite allowing a hit and 3 walks in his 2 innings of work. C Stan Shelton had 3 hits for the Reds while CF Steve Garc's 3-run HR was his 10th of the year.


Kansas City Royals RF Ed Harker goes 2 for 3 with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs in a 8-5 loss to the Reds. The 30 year old Harker is hitting .420 with 21 HRs and 71 RBIs in 100 games this season.


September 23rd, 2027

Kansas City 6 Cincinnati 4
The Reds opened up with a 4-run top of the 2nd to take a 4-0 lead, but the Royals fought back with 3 in the bottom of the 5th to take a 6-4 lead and held on for the win. Reds SS Vicente Hernandez was 3 for 3 and accounted for 3 of the Reds 7 hits. CF Steve Garc was the only other multi-hit player with 2. Reds SP Manny Perez (14-10) had his worst outing of the season, he allowed 6 runs on 10 hits in just 4 innings. Perez had won in each of his last 5 starts prior to today.


San Francisco Giants SP Ben Day allowed 5 hits and struck out 8 over 7 innings in a 2-0 win over the Diamondbacks. The 26 year old Day is 18-11 with a 3.42 ERA in 34 starts.

The two teams combined for 27 hits in a back and forth affair. The Reds lead 4-0 before the Rockies got on the board, the Rockies then added 4 more in the bottom of the 4th to take a 5-4 lead. The Reds scored in both the 6th and 7th to grab back a 7-6 lead and held on for the win. Reds C Jesus Lopez had 4 hits and 4 RBIs which included his 46th HR, a 2-run shot. Hot hitting CF Steve Garc hit his 11th HR of the year as well. In the last 10 games Garc has 9 hits, 5 HRs and 14 RBIs. Reds SP Manuel Campos allowed 5 runs on 9 hits in just 3.1 innings. MR Paco Salazar (1-0) earned his 1st MLB win in his 6th appearance. Salazar allowed 0 runs on 2 hits over 2 innings for the win. CL Jorge Martinez earned his 21st save, retiring all 3 hitters he faced.

The Reds can still achieve 87 wins so they are still not officially eliminated, but its going to be tough to get all 5 teams in front of them to fold like cheap tents.
