February 2019 - League Update

$10,300,000 Lands LF Salas for Admirals: Despite his solid numbers, some fans questioned the value of the Juan Salas signing even as Annapolis officials paraded him before the media this afternoon. Salas will surely bring a lot to the club, but he comes at a price of $10,300,000 over 2 years. In his 517-game career Salas has tagged 353 hits with 47 doubles, 5 triples and 74 home runs. His lifetime batting average is .246 with 252 RBIs and 209 runs scored.

Richmond Announces Deal for Veteran MR: Talk of a deal between Richmond and Javier Castro came together today as the two sides inked a deal worth $1,920,000 over 1 year. Castro is highly regarded around DELMARVA Baseball League for his talents and is expected to add that extra spark to the Cardinals roster. Lifetime Castro has made 348 relief appearances and converted 28 saves. His record stands at 24-and-24 with a 3.94 ERA.

Tsuneo Sato Signs $10,800,000 Deal with Washington: Senators officials presented Tsuneo Sato to members of the local print media today as their new starting pitcher. The deal, worth $10,800,000, guarantees the 31-year-old a home in Washington for 2 years. It should improve the ballclub, assuming he plays to his potential. Over his career Sato has 72 victories and 62 defeats with a 4.47 ERA. The 31-year-old hurler also has struck out 648 batters in 1091.2 innings and surrendered 1091 hits.

Sixteens-Senators Swap Confirmed: Newspapers in Georgetown and Washington reported that the Sixteens have reached a deal sending 25-year-old left fielder Jordan Bishop and 22-year-old minor league third baseman Ernest Furman to the Senators for 25-year-old starting pitcher Perry Rae. Since joining the league, Rae has compiled an ERA of 6.04 with a career record of 17-34. He has 200 strikeouts in 391.2 innings and has held opponents to a .305 batting average.

Notes: Annapolis was at it again, It will be really interesting to see if they will perform up to the changes they made. They brought in 6 new players, and 23.1 WAR. A pretty impressive off-season for them.
