April 8, 2014 - Yankees vs. Orioles (Game 8)
Starting lineup
LF - Ichiro Suzuki (.833, 1, 2)
CF - Jacoby Ellsbury (.250, 1, 3)
2B - Dean Anna (.385, 0, 1)
RF - Carlos Beltran (.357, 0, 4)
3B - Yangervis Solarte (.313, 2, 7)
DH - Alfonso Soriano (.280, 1, 6)
1B - Mark Teixera -(.280, 0, 2)
SS - Derek Jeter (.222, 0, 0)
C - Francisco Cervelli (.000, 0, 0)
SP - Ivan Nova (0-1, 10.80)
Nova came out strong and pitched a 1-2-3 first inning, but things would go downhill from there. Nova allowed 3 runs in the second inning, 2 in the fifth, and was chased from the game in the sixth inning. His final line for the night was 5 2/3 innings, 10 hits, 6 runs allowed, 4 earned, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. A little better than his first start, but not too great either.
Unfortunately our offense could only score 2 runs on 6 hits. Derek Jeter hit a solo home run, and walked with the bases loaded.
More bad news came in the way of injury as Carlos Beltran left the game in the second inning. He's day to day with a hamstring strain, so we'll have a decision on whether to place him on the DL with him being out 6 days. I'm concerned playing one man short with Beltran out.
Season Record: 3-5
2014 Yankees Record: 4-4
Heroes
Tonight was a pretty poor night all the way around, but Derek Jeter went 1-2 with 2 RBI including a home run as our standout performer.
Goats
We can begin forming a line here - Ivan Nova, David Phelps (2.1 IP, 4 ER), Jacoby Ellsbury (0-4), and Brett Gardner (0-3).
