1930 World Series

Mule Suttles goes 0/14 during the first 3 games of the series. The Yankees win an amazing 17-13 fourth game to go up 3-1 in the series, and the Phillies fight back to win games 5/6 to force another deciding game 7. Gehrig, Suttles and Ruth have combined for 8 home runs so far. NY’s Judd Wilson is doing his best to keep up with 4 home runs so far.

Game 7

Johnny Stuart starts for the Phillies. He’s 32-12 over the last 2 seasons, with an ERA around 4.30. Good numbers for the NL, and a great WL total. He’s 0-3, with a 9.00 ERA in 6 career World Series starts against the Yankees though. He’s got to be feeling that team has his number by this point.

The Yankees start George Stueland, who would be the team ace if Bill Foster played elsewhere. Over 8 seasons, he’s 149-91, with a 3.48 ERA. He’s won 20 games each of the last 3 seasons, and this season, had a 3.72 ERA. He’s 4-1, with a 4.28 ERA and 2 saves during his postseason career. He’s struggled against the Phillies this series, but has had nice success against them in the past.

The Yankees end this game quickly. They score 6 times in the first 2 innings, and knock Stuart out in the 4th inning. In total, Stuart allows 9 runs. Stueland goes the distance, cruising to a solid victory. Jud Wilson finishes the series with 5 home runs, 14 RBI’s, and a .500 average.
