OREGON OWNER DEMANDS SLASH

NEW OWNERSHIP NOT "SPEND ALL" TYPES
PORTLAND - There was a time in Oregon when Paul Allen's money on the stadium and Centurion handling the books was all the club needed to stay afloat. If things didn't go well, spend spend spend was the mantra. According to new owners Tom and Dolores Whitley, that is no more.

The Whitleys made their fortune in Amway, the home pyramid scheme that has swept the nation. These Amway billionaires bought a baseball team for their son Bobby, who is sixteen, but cannot run the team legally. Thus, Mr. Whitley has taken over the club until Bobby finishes his major league career - he's presently in high school - and then can take over the team.

"This club is what Amway can do for people," he said. "We want a club that emphasizes the Amway method in all its development. We're going to create a winner, because that's what our junior wants. But we're not spending $100 million to do it. No way. Back in my day, teams didn't spend $100 million to win a World Series. Look at last year?! We didn't even win the Series!," said Tom.

The Emeralds should shed between $30-$35 million in salary before the beginning of the season.
