Game 154:

Arturo Ramirez (ND) went 7 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs, but the bullpen couldn't close out the game. Then again 2 unearned runs on 3 errors didn't help. Roberto Perez hit a HR (22).

Ron Reilly (15-6) went 8.1 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs and continued to stay hot. Will Rose got roughed up allowing 3 hits and 3 runs in 1/3, but Dalton Whitaker came and struck out the only batter he faced on 3-pitches for the save (37). Game 157:
Norfolk 1, Ocean City 0
Miguel Contreras (ND) looked good, over 7.1 innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 7. Will Rose (10-1) threw 2/3's allowing 1 hit, and Ron Harris closed the door for the save (5). Mike Ford lead the offense with 3 hits and Jesus Rivera added 2 hits, including the game winning hit in the 9th. Mike Ford singled, Sergio Galvez PR, stole second, then scored on a Rivera single.

Injury News: The Cav's wait for the new as Kent Davis was pulled from the game after being hit by a pitch in the 1st. Diagnosis is pending and we hold our breath.

Around the League:
  • Jorge Quintero, Seaford Blue Jays, is out the rest of the year with a ruptured finger tendon. The 37-year old vows to return for the 2019 season. This year: .257-20-66
  • Zafar Khorasani, Ocean City Tourists, is out with a fractured hip. If all goes right he should be ready for spring training next year. He is expected to miss 6-months. He has played 42 games with the Tourists this season: .260-2-20
  • Pat Jeffries of the Georgetown Sixteens has not hit in 20 straight: .360-18-80
  • Kiyonobu Matsurra of the Annapolis Admirals had his hit streak stopped at 39 games! Trying to become just the second player with a hit streak of 40, his 39 game streak is the 2nd longest in DBL history: .351-4-51
  • David Chambers of the Lewes Braves will miss 14 months with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. In 48 games this season Chambers was 7-8 3 SV and a 3.13 ERA.
  • Peter Peters, of the New Castle Colonials will miss 4 weeks with a straind hamstring. Peters will end his injury plagued off-season on the DL. The 3-time MVP had an off-year, making is frist trip to the DL this season, and he ended up there 2 times. .299-34-72 A huge blow to the Colonials play-off hopes!

Players of the Week:

MarVa: Steve Williams, Annapolis Admirals, 15-28 1 HR, 13 RBI's

Power Rankings:

2) Annapolis Admirals (120.9)
3) Dover Generals (113.4)
4) Lewes Braves (111.7)
5) Washington Senators (104.6)

Division Races, whats left...
Dover Generals - clinched
New Castle Colonials - magic # 1, with a 5 game lead over the Clippers
Annapolis Admirals - clinched
Norfolk Cavaliers - clinched

GM Notes: Five games left this season, and the last 4 our against who will be our playoff opponent, the Annapolis Admirals. It works out nicely with Miguel Contreras and Jose Matos not pitching against them. Contreras is done for the season. Matos has one more start. And I have decided put Cooper Mananghaya in to throw the last game of the regular season. This will probably his last start, and next year he will be trying to earn a bullpen role... Five days left and now we have to wait to see how Kent Davis is going to be. CF is probably our weakest position in terms of bench, so losing him could be hurtful to the team. He is our leadoff man, he owns a .408 OBP and has over 50 steals. Hopefully its nothing too major... Last season Ron Reilly didn't make the playoff roster, this year he is finishing really strong and may end up being my #4. I will have to look back and see how he did against Annapolis, him and Vaughan Griffith will be throwing against them this week...

Other Things of Interest:
King Brock is 4 doubles away from tieing the all time double record. Set in the innagural year 2013 (50).
Kent Davis now has 252 hits, breaking his 2016 record of 249 for most hits in a season.
Kent Davis has 212 singles this season, breaking his record of 203 set 2 years ago.
Jose Matos is tied with 23 wins. He has 1 more start to try to break the record.

Don Sweetapple is 1 win away from becoming the 4th pitcher with 100 wins. He has 2 ND's in his last 2 starts.
The others: Miguel Contreras (111), Marcos Estrada (105) and Jose Matos (104).

The 2018 Cavaliers have scored the most runs in the history of the DBL for any one season. With 991 runs they will try to become the first 1000 run team. 5 games left, it could happen. There have only been 4 times in 6 seasons when a team reached the 900 run plateau.
1) 2018 Norfolk Cavaliers - 991
2) 2017 Ocean City Tourists - 982
3) 2017 Norfolk Cavaliers - 957
4) 2015 Annapolis Admirals - 926
