2013/2014 Season Recap

Rule changes after the 2012/2013 abbreviated season:
1. No shootouts
2. 1 Point for Tie
3. Salary cap increased to $84,300,000




The Chicago Blackhawks again won the Presidents trophy with 50-22-10 record, good for 110 pts. Only the Boston Bruins also finished above 100 pts, with 101.

Sidney Crosby led the league in scoring with 105 pts. Followed by Bobby Ryan (OTT) 93 and Anze Kopitar (LA) 90.

Toronto's Phil Kessel led the league in goals with 59. Three other players had 50 goal seasons, Bobby Ryan (53), Penguin's James Neal (51) and Lightning Steven Stamkos (50).

Calgary had a dismal year finishing last in the west. Their one bright light was the performance of rookie Sean Monahan who led all rookies with 74 pts.

Tukka Rask led all goaltenders wih a 2.24 Avg and .922 Save%.



The New York Rangers when their first Stanley Cup since 1994, defeating the Anaheim Ducks in 5 games. Derek Stepan won the Conn Smythe trophy for the playoff MVP, finishing the post-season with 23 pts in 23 games.
