I have a Mac and have not seen this issue. Admittedly, I rarely play out games, but I'll test it in the morning to make sure that's not the case for me.
I turn off the player pictures because on some of the ballpark photos I have, space is a bit cramped, particularly at home plate and middle infield when a runner is on second. But it has always shown player name and ratings.
