2017 Newcomer Award
Delaware Conference Announces 2017 Newcomer Award: John Bean, the rookie first baseman for the Milton Brewers, assured himself of a place in Delaware Conference history with a solid performance in the 2017 season. He now has a place reserved for him in the league record book under "Rookie of the Year."
The 24-year-old Milton newcomer took the trophy by hitting .310 in 145 games this season and finished with 152 hits, 15 home runs, 71 RBIs and 70 runs scored.
Before the season John Bean was named the #5 prospect in the DBL. He was drafted out of Utah, in the 2016 draft by the Brewers with the 6th pick overall.
MarVa Conference Names #1 Rookie: The top-ranked rookie performer in the MarVa Conference was Ellicott City catcher Will Riley. It was announced today by league officials that he had been named the winner of the 2017 Newcomer Award.
Riley chalked up some good season stats, including a .291 batting average and .321 on-base percentage, while racking up 19 home runs, 85 RBIs and 76 runs scored.
Dawg was the #1 prospect heading into the 2017 season. He was drafted by the Express with the first overall pick in the 2016 draft and signed for a record $9,190,000 bonus!
