Paul 'the Shepherd' Brown
Paul 'the Shepherd' Brown was drafted as the 2nd overall pick in the 2016 draft out of high school (Mater Academy Charter). He was assigned to A ball to start his trek to the majors. All the scouts agree Paul is a huge prospect, hate to use the word "sure thing", but he is as close as they come. He will turn 20 years old in 2 months, and he stands an intimating 6'3". He has very good composure on the mound and he throws the ball hard (91-93 MPH).
As his current ratings suggest he could possible pitch in the big leagues now, but we believe he still needs to work on his control and will be sent to AAA to work with Lane Myers our pitching coach.
Some of the words used to describe him in the baseball news:
"Paul Brown is going to be an ace"
"Fearless on the mound, and he makes pitching look easy"
"Throws 91-93, but it looks even faster"
"He has plus-plus potential"
"Positively filthy movement on his stuff"
Antonio Diaz has him rated as a 2* player with 5* potential, and not many people would argue with that.

Brown gives us some added depth at quality pitching in the minors, and I am sure he will have a nice long career in Norfolk. We gave up a lot to get him, but it was the right move for the future. Freitas had worn out is welcome and we had no place in the organization for Gould.
