The Series is tied 1-1
W: Tony Garcia (1-0)
L: Jose Matos (0-1)
S: Jack Clow (1)
HR: Chris Thomas (1)
POG: Tony Garcia, 7 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 7 K's
Attendance: 43,474
Notes: The Generals had 10 hits, with Joe Benson, Andy Kohl, Andres Salinas and Claude Bond each getting 2... Chris Thomas now has 3 HR's this post season, but none were bigger than this one... The Cavs had 5 hits, all after the 6th and all singles. Mauro Candelaria had 2 to lead the way... Pablo Freitas struck out 3 times for the Cav's and Joe Fishe went down 3 times for the Generals... Tony Garcia went 7 innings, throwing 109 pitches. He struck out 7... Jose Matos had a decent game, but he did give up 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. He added 8 K's... The next 3 games will be played without a DH.
Key Moment: In the 8th the Cavaliers loaded the bases as it looked like Tony Garcia was tiring. With 9-1-2 coming up, the Generals went to Woody Bauer, who took the loss in last nights game. What did Bauer do? Strike out the next to hitters, then get the Cav's best hitter to fly out. Bases loaded 0 outs, and the Cav's can't get anyone across.
Thoughts: The team can't do much if we don't hit. Anytime a pitcher gives up 2 runs, they should be able to pull off the win... The next 2 games should be interesting as we are going to see their #3 and #4, as they will ours. More runs? Who knows. But they will decide this series... I need to figure out what to do with this lineup going into a DH'less series. I will mix it up some, I think I have to... Hitting has always been my biggest worry with this team, and when your team leader in average and lead-off man is 0-8 its going to be hard to score runs... Here is to better success in Dover.
