1. You answered it yourself, position player fatique would definitely play a role. Pitching would still be fine as pitchers are always ready to go after 4 day's rest. The only down side is the lack of realism.
2. I never schedule ST, but then again I don't usually GM a team. I imagine it would be useful for determining who, out of 2 similar rated players, should make your opening day roster.
