Question for all of you: Is it possible to sign a guy to a lower arbitration number than his current contract figure?

I had a guy who I signed to a ridiculously high salary during his arbitration years. He's like a full-grown IFA type.

I have the opportunity to offer him arbitration next year, and he's having a fine year but nowhere near the amount of money the arbitration calculator says. He's a good player but he's hardly a mission critical type.

So could I possibly win a lower number in arbitration?
