Maybe I misunderstood. Are you playing out the games, watching, simming?
The tips I posted only apply to games you play as the field manager. If you are simming you need to look at your roster and see who is hot or cold. Do you have injuries with players on the DL? Are certain players starting (batters) who shouldn't be. What about positions? Sometimes the AI gets too busy moving players around. Is the starting rotation filled with proper SP? Do you have a good closer (Mariano)?
Don't worry about this first try. If you want make a backup give it another name and save it for a redo. The more you navigate and look at players, ratings and boxscores the easier it will be to correlate performance with results.
If you are using real players be aware that they might strikeout when you expect an RBI single to RF, or give up a HR when you expect a K. Player performance should appear reasonable over the season not necessarily game to game or week to week.
