The Dodgers played 15 games at Roosevelt Field in Jersey City, NJ in 1956 and 1957, in an ultimately unsuccessful effort to pressure NYC officials to allow a new stadium in Brooklyn. And a quick glance at any Negro League schedule would show that those teams played many, if not most, of their games at neutral sites.
It's not just that. It's also when clubs opened a new stadium during a season (multiple examples), and cases like Cleveland which for some years split its home games during a season between two different parks.
