11/1/1985 -
The Expos head into the Amateur Draft with some decisions. Our first move was to decline Garry Templeton's player option.
Our second task was to try and lock up Marty Bystrom to an extension.
Our third item was to try and bring back pitching coach Carl Boles.
We didn't get the second and third items done before the amateur draft.
The Expos first pick came in the second round with the 19th pick of the second round. Catcher Ed Hearn was our pick. Reliever Dale Mohorcic was our third round pick. We selected another reliever, Mitch Williams in the fourth round, and 1B Pat Dodson our fifth round pick, and our final player selected.
We'll be preparing for a record ninth season in Montreal. Let's hope they aren't the first team requiring double digit years.
