based on my experience so far I wouldn't if he is highly rated. I found the international free agents stars to be way too good, and AI not aggressive enough with them, and it was too easy. the first 2 years of my Dynasty I signed the top guys, they became perennial all-stars immediately. :-)
but beyond that, I see no problems. and if he flops it will be a great challenge to work around the contract. in fact go for the 8 years 17M, and try and work around that.
if he is good he will also become popular increasing fan interest
